Jack is our missionary to the Macomb County Jails and has been ministering there for about 10 years.  He goes weekly and ministers to 5 to 10 inmates.  He has been instrumental in leading hundreds of inmates to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

In March 2008, the prison coordinator Lyle sent the following message:

As I was preparing my coffee this morning, for some reason the following nursery rhyme came to mind:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall – Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty together again.

I began thinking what type of questions the officers might ask who were investigating the scene?  Was this an accident; was he pushed, or was it suicide?  A good lawyer would want to know if there were signs posted saying “Keep Off The Wall.”  But regardless of the answers to those questions, the fact is that Humpty Dumpty was a broken mess and no one could put him together again.  I read  a daily devotional a contribution written by Richard Ryan.  He wrote: “ When I was first sent to prison, my life was like broken pottery.  I was shattered and resembled nothing useful;  I was worthless in the eyes of people and in the eyes of God – So I thought.  When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, he put the pieces back together.  Although he used the same clay, I was a new vessel. Where there was once aggression, Christ placed passion; Where once existed cunning, he placed a desire to teach others God’s love; Where one existed self-love and selfishness, he placed love and understanding.  Not until I fell on my face did I learn to look to God.  Not until I saw how broken I was did I learn what a wonderful potter Christ is.  While all the king’s men could not put our brokenness together, the King of Kings can.  He has done it with you and with me.”

This Easter when you see an Easter egg, remember Humpty Dumpty .  Only when you make Jesus Christ Savior and Lord of your life and you surrender to Him can He then restore all the broken pieces of your life into a new vessel. Have a blest Easter as we worship the Lamb of God.
