Dear Prayer Supporters,

We will be leaving Hong Kong for Singapore today, but will be back in the United States on December 22nd. We want to send our warm greetings to all of you during this Christmas season as we especially remember the birth of our Savior. We look forward to spending the season with some of our family in Dayton.

We have just come to the end of a very full six and a half months here in Hong Kong taking the place of our son-in-law and his family in their work with the Butterfly Bay Baptist Church while they are on furlough. They are due back here in Hong Kong on the 8th of January.

My own missionary work goes back nearly 55 years. Those years in the Philippines,  Hong Kong, China, and other places in the Far East have included many different types of work and challenges, but we feel that these months in Hong Kong have been some of the most challenging and fruitful months that we have ever had in our missionary work. We leave here with deep thanks to the Lord for all the different ways He has led us and for what He has done.

We came into a work where very careful and spiritual foundations were laid in the years that the Darlins have worked here, and we were here to build further on those spiritual foundations as I preached and taught and led the work as they have been on furlough. Both Joyce and I have had seminars, and God has given Joyce many opportunities for the ministry of hospitality and some counseling with women.

We have seen the people growing in the Lord and taking a stand for Him in their own personal lives and in the work of the church. They seem to have a real hunger for the Word and a willingness to apply it to their lives and growth. Many unsaved people have also been attending. We pray for their salvation. One elderly lady even came to the Lord after a prayer meeting service.

I finished my Monday teaching in the Bible College on the 10th of this month. It was a spiritual blessing to me to touch again this younger generation of leaders.

We will leave again for Hong Kong and GUAM on the 21st of January, so will have nearly a month of rest and refreshment in Dayton before we leave.
